Ozone is different from other chemical water treatments because it is an unstable gas that cannot be stored or transported. It must be generated at the point of use, and it quickly disappears, leaving no trace behind, after a short period of time. Ozone quickly reverts to oxygen. Ozone is also very safe, in fact according to the Water Quality Organization, or WQA, ozone is the strongest water purifier that can safely be used for drinking water treatment.
